Gregor Mendel
Gregor Mendel was an Austrian scientist who gained posthumous fame as the new founder of genetics. Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traits in pea plants follow some particular patterns. This is now referred to as the laws of Mendelian Inheritance.
Gregor Mendel, also known as "Father of modern genetics", was inspired by both his professors at the University of Olomouc, and his colleagues at the monastery to study variation in plants, and he conducted his own study in the monastery in hectre.
